This is what I'm going through, state sanctioned violence against women and children.

And this is why I'm going to law school. Thank you for this paper, this is so important and yet always under-reported and ignored by the justice system.

Wow Audrey, that's great news. We need more people like you going to law school.

Excellent article, thank you. If anyone is interested in learning about someone working to fight and expose these biases against mothers and children in the US, check out Dr. Lundy Bancroft: https://lundybancroft.com/

Thank you so much for writing about this topic. It is a huge problem here in the United States as well.

Thank you so much for reading and your comment Chera. You are right, it is a global issue. We must do better urgently to protect children. I think that people cannot bear to think that fathers may sexually abuse their children, but evidence tells us they are the most likely to be CSA perpetrators https://journals.sagepub.com/doi/10.1177/15248380231195891#:~:text=Parental%20sexual%20exploitation%20is%20such,denial%2C%20disbelief%2C%20and%20dissociation.

Thank for for that article and, yes, it is a global issue (I just know more about the specifics in the U.S. so that is why I mentioned it specifically.)

There was a recent study that came out indicating that 1 in 7 fathers sexually abuse one or more of their children. That same study said 1 in 3 stepfathers sexually abuse their children/step children.

This is beyond-words-horrifying. Think of how many must abuse if we include physical, emotional and psychological as well! 🤯

I have been speaking out against the corrupt family court system in my county (it is a super patriarchal, super conservative, fundamentalist religion type of county in Michigan) since I walk alongside of abuse victims. But what else can we do?! The system is intentionally deigned this way and it feels like taking a plastic spoon to a brick wall while attempting to expose and correct the corruption.

Thank you so much for your kind words. We have to keep doing the research, keep advocating, keep raising voices until the public understand what is happening - when the public know, I am confident they will call for immediate change
