In this article, published by NAPO (The Trade Union, Professional Association and campaigning organisation for Probation and Family Court staff), we discuss the BBC documentary
It is so good to be able to read research and the truth about the continued abuse we are subjected to via the courts. We were never free, my children and I, to live our lives freely, to thrive and be happy. The continued contact was police and court ordered to be supervised but that in itself said their father was an unsafe parent. The conflict and trauma has been immense. Their childhood has been robbed. I have repeatedly lost the will to live and picking up the pieces of their enforced contact with him afterwards has been exhausting to the point of insanity.
The court situation is instane - perpetuating handing over our children to people who show signs of insanity. Those who don’t pay maintenance should be charged with child neglect and that should be the end of any relationship, let alone when economic abuse is only part of the picture. It is a good indicator of unhealthy, controlling and thereby unsafe behaviour and only the start, yet the courts choose to see this as a separate entity to contact. Like I say, insane.
Thank you for your continued work and highlighting this madness.
Thank you for sharing Anya, I hear you. I am currently writing further papers about the impacts on children. I believe this is a public health and human rights crisis, which as the UN special rapporteur said, is largely hidden from the public's knowledge. I fully agree with you. Thank you for speaking out. I consider this work an honour and privilege and I will keep going, despite those who try to silence me.
