Health experiences of mothers engaged in #familycourt.
Women@Manchester host Dr Elizabeth Dalgarno, the director and founder of SHERA Research Group – a collective of professionals leading global innovative research into the Health, Social, Human Rights and Economic Impacts of Domestic Abuse/Violence on Women and Children. The University of Manchester researcher will present her research into Gender-Based Violence in the Family Court System in Brazil and England. She has recently published the article: Full article: ‘Swim, swim and die at the beach’: family court and perpetrator induced trauma (CPIT) experiences of mothers in Brazil (tandfonline.com) and 'Health-related experiences of family court and domestic abuse in England: A looming public health crisis'. Her work has been presented globally, including to the French Secretary of State for Children and the 53rd United Nations Human Rights Council. She is currently leading several national and international projects including investigating how Covid has impacted upon health and social care services from a
carer/professional and patient/service user perspective and mothers’ experiences of domestic violence and family court proceedings in England and Brazil. The seminar was delivered as part of International Women's Day events 5th March 2024, at 10:00am. The findings focus around human rights violations within the family courts and court and perpetrator induced trauma (CPIT)
This #IWD & beyond, we call upon the UK and global governments to prohibit the use of PA pseudoscience and to urgently intervene within the courts. The time for reporting and stating ‘lessons will be learned’ is over.
